Command Semantic Trail

Shows location and parent context through crawlable, descriptive links for keyboard-first expert workflows; it is designed to reach destinations and actions from intent-oriented search. Current location remains non-interactive while overflow is keyboard accessible. The command navigation variant is specialized for commands and links require distinct semantics and consequences. Users can reach destinations and actions from intent-oriented search while understanding the current state, available choices, and resulting consequence.

Implementation field notes

Use command semantic trail confidently.

The preview and source are only the starting point. Use these notes to decide where the component fits, preserve its accessibility contract, and verify the adapted result.

Good fit for

  • Developer command surface
  • Edge release pipeline
  • Command palettes

This command palettes pattern works best when its purpose is clear in the surrounding page hierarchy.

Accessibility contract

  • The primary purpose and current state remain available as text and do not depend on color, motion, pointer position, or visual geometry.
  • Semantic HTML preserves the complete reading order and interaction meaning without JavaScript.
  • Reduced-motion, 200% zoom, long-content, narrow-container, and forced-color behavior are part of the implementation acceptance criteria.

Integration plan

  1. Copy the standalone HTML and scoped CSS into an isolated page.
  2. Adapt primary wayfinding signal, spatial highlight, navigation surface, primary text through the Inspector.
  3. Keep the semantic markup intact while replacing the sample content.
  4. Review the result at 375, 768, 1024, and 1440 pixels before shipping.
